A Cooking Lesson

Variety may be the spice of life, but where are the directions for the main dish?  Here’s my personal recipe:

Two armfuls of Love – gathered from family and friends in every season of life

One cup homemade Spaghetti Sauce with a blend of Italian Seasonings and extra Garlic – add a splash of Red Wine for full effect

Two handfuls of Loud Laughter, lightly sprinkled with Sarcasm

One large dollop of Blind Optimism tempered with a Dash of Irish Melancholy

Equal parts Faith, Hope, and Unanswerable Questionsgarlic-139659_640

One book’s worth of Useless Trivia

A small smattering of Unreasonable Phobias

A generous scoop of Creativity

Simmer gently in a cast iron pot for four and a half decades.  Be sure to add fresh ingredients daily.  Do not overheat!  If pot boils over, remove from flame and allow dish to cool in isolation in a dark, quiet room.  Serve in large soup bowl with a loaf of crusty Italian bread.   While this dish is not to everyone’s taste, those who enjoy it swear by its rejuvenating qualities.

Best when served with strong coffee that has been topped with a frothy blend of sweetened cream and dark humor.
